Who are we?

Upperline School of Code -  is looking for founding team members as it pursues its mission of empowering high school students and teachers to change the world with code. You’d be joining a small but quickly growing organization that already has relationships with Google, The Flatiron School and some of New York’s top high schools.

Our programs for high school students teach professional development languages - Ruby, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Swift - and employ the most awesome teachers, period. We want to change the face of CS education by developing rigorous curricula, increasing access (over 50% of our students last summer were girls), and by inspiring our students to see how code can be creative and fun. In teaching students to code, we aim to develop self-efficacy, grit, communication skills, and a tolerance for risk and failure. Side note: We also play a lot of improv games.

Who we’re looking for

  • Initiative-Takers: You work well in the ambiguity of a start-up and love finding interesting problems to tackle. You love working with people, but can also design and execute big projects by yourself.

  • Optimists: You see the best in people. You believe education can play a major role in the lives of students around the world. You love a big challenge, and approach it with positivity and a belief in yourself.

  • Doers: You have a bias towards action. You love the process of creating, testing, and iterating. You listen to feedback and continually improve.

Where you come in

We are looking for folks who will take ownership over a big idea and run with it from concept to execution. Here are some of the positions we are looking to fill and some of the big projects you might take charge of:

  • Marketing - Show students, parents, and teachers how awesome learning to code can be. Build and execute an incredible marketing strategy.

  • Operations - Create systems and processes to help us grow while maintaining amazing quality and service.

  • Business Development - Develop partnerships and open new lines of business in the tech education world.

  • Curriculum Development - Build new computer science and coding curricula to support our summer instructors.

We are open to internships, part-time positions, and full-time positions. Tell us about yourself at careers@upperlinecode.com (please include a LinkedIn profile and a short note explaining your interest and how you can add value to our team).
